The carpets of this region, though situated near the Sarough area, are completely different. Whereas the Farahan carpet is woven with thick and sturdy wool yet with a large KPSI and the piles are cut to uniform fashion with gothic designs, the Sarogh uses soft wool with a large KPSI and with luxurious look and feel but very heavy. The Farahan carpets later incorporated the Herati designs (Fish in ponds) and this design brought it significance. In England it became known as the gentlemen’s carpet. The colors used are reds and blues as major tones and beige used as high lights. |
