Mashad

The chief city of the eastern provinces with over 2,5 million population and one of the main religious centers of Iran and with a thriving pilgrim and tourist income and an important weaving center in Iran. The carpets and rugs in this region have central medallions in Floral designs with Red and Blue coloring. The designs are predominantly Herati designs. Of these carpets the most famous is the Mood carpets which are very finely woven and rare. The carpets have thick piles with Floral designs of Bote- Jeghe or Herati patterns. The main color themes are Beige, Brown, Blues and Reds.
