Kashmar
Kashmar, a very old city, is located in the North Eastern Province of Khorassan and on the Silk Road has an old history in weaving rugs and carpets with unique designs. There are a variety of designs, the pictorial themes depicting hunts or events, the central medallion patterns with floral backgrounds or the all over design with small flowers or animals covering the whole carpet. Many of the carpets woven in this area are very large and the colors used can vary greatly depending on the designs or patterns. The quality of carpets are very fine and the weaving intricate.
