Tabriz
The main city of the North West and a cradle of culture and for centuries one of the main weaving centers of the Persian carpets in Iran. The various styles, intricacies of the design and the quality of weaving make the carpets woven here one of the most sought after carpets and Rugs. There are many designs to be found in Tabriz from the geometric design to the floral to the pictorial and to the famous Mahi design which has a central medallion and intricate detailed shapes all round or the equally famous Tabatabaii design. Tabriz is also famous for their Canvas Carpets. These carpets are woven so well that they rival paintings and are framed and hung as pictures on the walls. The carpets are mainly wool with silk used as high lighters and for effect as well as complete silk carpets.
